Jenny van Sommers is an award-winning still-life photographer who grew up in Australia, but is now based in London. Her work often brings to life mundane objects, and she is known for her rich ideas that add “tongue-in-cheek” humor to her work.
She was awarded the prestigious Golden Lion at Cannes for her work with Stella Artois. In this video, we see four different jellies, each with their own unique personality, move to the music. It’s quite light and fun, and after a while becomes mesmerizing to watch.

The photographer’s studio is in the same street as Bompas & Parr — a London shop that creates fine English jellies. So the inspiration for the film was right on her doorstep. The music used for the film is from the London trio Social Skills.

“The one on the bottom right is a bit of a shoe-gazer (like me). Then there’s the super-extrovert on the top right-hand side. The orange jelly is the person who is always in a good mood.
“And the brown one is the person at the disco who is standing there and then suddenly gets a burst of energy and really goes for it, then gets embarrassed and stops dancing. He’s a bit of a weirdo.”
I relate to the white one in the top right corner. It’s like that little jelly is enjoying himself so much, he begins to break free.
