Tich Garden is a popular restaurant along the north coast in Jingshan District, New Taipei City, Taiwan. With a picturesque garden adjacent to a stunning wetland covering an area of 19.8 ha (48.9 acres), Tich Garden is a unique restaurant that boasts fine scenery and a comfortable ambiance.
The history of Tich Garden
A lady surnamed Guo, who used to run a boutique in Taipei, founded Tich Garden. In 2011, she moved back to her hometown in Jinshan District to care for her elderly mother. She then purchased a piece of land adjacent to the vast expanse of wetland to create a non-toxic environment for her family.
However, her mother passed away shortly after that. Guo thus decided to turn her manor into a unique restaurant with a beautiful garden to share the non-toxic environment with her customers.

The uniquenesses of Tich Garden
In the restaurant, patrons are only served a themed menu prepared and served by the chef (無菜單料理 Omakase.) In other words, customers will not be presented with a menu at the restaurant, but they will be asked if they prefer to have food with meat and fish or vegetarian food.
Unlike typical restaurants in bright colors, the exterior of Tich Garden is entirely black. Covering a total area of 330 m² (3,552 ft²), the interior of this stylish restaurant is decorated with hundred-year-old unpainted precious wood.
With a towering ceiling height of 6 m (19 ft), the restaurant’s tables and benches are mostly made of floating wood from the devastating Typhoon Morakot that seriously hit Taiwan in 2009 to help promote environmental sustainability.
The cuisine of Tich Garden
All the dishes served in this restaurant are made of local materials freshly picked or caught on the same day, selected by the chef, and made into delicious, healthy cuisine without additives.
Besides its gourmet food, unique dinnerware, and ceramic cups custom-made by skilled artisans, its beautiful presentation of food further creates a truly memorable dining experience.
The garden
The restaurant also boasts a stunning Japanese-style garden. The garden features a beautiful array of deciduous cypress trees (落羽松), flowers, and other plants, including a tranquil pond with magnificent koi fish.
In particular, the wooden platform in the back of the restaurant provides an opportunity for visitors to appreciate the immense expanse of wetland, with the majestic mountains looming in the distance.
Recognitions of Tich Garden
Since 2012, Tich Garden has been recognized for its excellence with awards from various government agencies for eight consecutive years, including the High-Quality Restaurant Award from the New Taipei City Government in 2012, the national award for the best restaurant in 2013 from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and an award of the “New Taipei, New Select” campaign organized by New Taipei City Government in 2022.
In conclusion, Tich Garden is a gourmet restaurant with fantastic food and a cozy ambiance, which can provide visitors with an intimate dining experience. Therefore, dining in such a serene environment is truly a feast for the eyes and the taste buds, though the price is relatively more expensive.
