Some people are okay with three pairs of pants and a few T-shirts, while others are the complete opposite. A full closet makes them happy. These people may find it difficult to donate or give away some or all of the clothes they don’t use.

However, the challenge arises when this abundance transforms your closet into a chaotic space. Having a stuffed closet can be so overwhelming. It isn’t easy to organize or even find things. Luckily, there are ways to optimize the available space.

Tips and tricks to help you organize your closet if you have many clothes

1. Begin with a purge

If you have too many clothes with little space, it’s time for a purge. If you realize that you still have too many clothes, repeat the process. Going through your closet occasionally gives you an idea of the stuff you don’t need anymore, and donating or giving things away will leave you plenty of room to store the things you need.

2. Smart storage solutions

Your closet’s capacity might surprise you. With adjustable shelving, you can tailor your storage space to fit your needs more effectively. Categorizing your clothes by season or occasion can also streamline your routine. This method helps you keep track of your belongings and makes it easier to rotate items based on the time of year, ensuring everything is within reach when needed.

3. Utilize wall spaces

Some pieces of clothing like hats, belts, and handbags aren’t meant to go into storage baskets, drawers, or closets. You can use the empty wall space around your closet to hang them up neatly using hooks.

If you have a small closet, you should utilize every inch to ensure everything is neat and well organized. Use the back of the door to hang small items like belts and scarves. And if you don’t have hooks, get nails and a hammer and get crafty.

4. Look beyond traditional storage

Not all clothes need to be hung in the closet. Folding items like jeans and sweaters can save valuable hanging space for items that wrinkle easily. Utilize shelf dividers to keep stacks neat.

5. Label your plastic storage containers

If you are using plastic container organizers, labeling them will save you a lot of time while storing and looking for items. While storing, you’ll know exactly what goes where, and while looking, you’ll see where a particular item is

6. Store your shoes in plastic shoe boxes or shoe racks

If your closet has a shoe rack, neatly arrange your shoes. If it doesn’t, use plastic shoe boxes in vertical closet spaces, which you can arrange on shelves. You can stack the boxes on top of each other to maximize space.

Take away

It is possible to love fashion, have too many clothes, and still store them neatly in your limited closet space. All you need is a little time to declutter and organize your closet every once in a while. You don’t need acres of space like you see among fashionistas and influencers; you can get creative and make your limited space work just fine.
