The Miraculous Effect of Emotions on Health

We all know that health is essential, and many people are concerned about all kinds of health information. But the best way to cherish life is not to care about it too much. It can be said that almost all diseases result from your immune system losing the battle, and one of the critical factors is your emotions.

The role of emotions on health

The human body is an intricate structure that contains a sophisticated immune system, which in this context includes not only immunity in the narrow sense of Western medicine, but also self-diagnosis, management of human resources, self-repair, and regeneration. When you have emotional problems, more than 70 percent of us deal with them by attacking our organs, i.e., our immune system is the first to be attacked, which is one of the biggest causes of illness.

The impact of seven negative emotions on health

According to research, the top seven emotions that cause problems with the immune system are anger, sadness, fear, depression, hostility, and suspicion. In Chinese medicine, there is also the term “seven emotions,” which refers to the seven mental activities of happiness, anger, sadness, thought, grief, fear, and frightened, and the seven emotions belong to the five organs. According to The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Classic, Huangdi Neijing‧Suwen, sudden, intense, prolonged emotional stimuli beyond the body’s normal physiological activities can lead to dysfunction and illness.

Different emotional problems can lead to other organ damage. For example, women who are often angry are prone to breast enlargement; chronically depressed women are prone to breast cancer; and those not in good relationships with their spouses are afraid of being entangled in gynecological diseases. Stress and strain are likely to lead to gastrointestinal disorders; people who feel unhappy and aggressive are prone to migraines; people who lack confidence and are indecisive are prone to diabetes.

The accumulation of negative emotions can lead to health storms

Stress, grievances, and anger all accumulate in your body, and while your mind may forget them for a while, your body will always remember them. As a result, an immune storm may one day descend and even destroy your life. Modern people are increasingly prone to all kinds of illnesses, and many people spend so much energy on health care that they forget to integrate body, mind, and spirit. This is why, in the medical experiences of Western medicine, there are still many sudden illnesses for which no specific cause can be found.

The source of emotions

One doctor mentioned the case of a woman who suddenly found out she had terminal lung cancer without warning and had been living with her in-laws since marriage. She resigned herself to her fate and slowly stopped talking about it until she was diagnosed with lung cancer, which was already at an advanced stage. Her family was well-off, and in addition to Western medical treatment, they helped her find a renowned psychotherapist.

During a hypnosis session, the psychotherapist asked what the greatest wish for her life was. She calmly said one thing: “I want to have a home of my own, just with my husband and children, not a big one, not for a long time, just for a few months.”

Negative emotions are suppressed,d and although they are not visible or felt, they can eat away at your health without you realizing it. You can’t just treat your illness; you must find the source of your emotions. One doctor said: “Nowadays, more than one-third of patients come to hospitals with psychosomatic illnesses and less than one-third with physical diseases, which lead to psychological problems. This is why we cannot rely on a purely medical model to treat these patients, but we rather must treat them at three levels: psychological, biological, and social.

The benefits of meditation

It is essential to be vigilant and strengthen your immune system before you become ill. Taking care of your body is not just about making a lot of money and living in a luxurious house, and eating fine food; it is about caring for your emotions, listening to the signals from your body, being true to your heart, and transcending yourself. If your fatigue has reached a high level, you need to relax and rest; if your emotions of joy, sadness, and happiness have reached a critical end, you need to know when to withdraw, vent, let go and forgive. You must rebalance your body and reject the destructive emotions to regain health.

Anxiety and depression are common mental health problems, and various illnesses are prevalent today. Dr. Joseph Mercola, a leading health expert, analyses the psychological mechanisms of anxiety and says that meditation is the safest, cheapest, and most effective way to increase tolerance of uncertainty without drugs. He says that mindfulness meditation helps to reduce stress and anxiety by constantly awakening the person’s attention and allowing them to live wholeheartedly in the present moment, reducing the anxiety caused by uncertainty and increasing concentration and mental awareness.

Yale University School of Medicine surgeon Dr. Bernie Segal says: “Contemplative meditation is a mind-relaxing exercise that can cure AIDS and cancer, which are considered terminal illnesses.” According to a five-year study by Dr. Harry Johnson of the University of Maryland, meditative meditation improves hormone levels in vision, blood pressure, and cognitive function. It treats many incurable diseases and chronic conditions, such as heart disease and arthritis.

Traditional Chinese medicine also emphasizes that emotions significantly impact health and that excessive anxiety and fear can lead to symptoms of physical discomfort. The wisdom of Chinese ancestors tells us that meditation can open up understanding and increase intelligence, nourish the body, and prolong life.

Meditation to improve health

By eliminating distracting thoughts and relaxing the body and mind, meditating once or twice a day for 15 minutes to half an hour, gradually increasing to an hour, can calm your mind and blood vessels, strengthen your immune system, and help treat chronic diseases. If you can’t quiet your mind, try focusing on your breathing with soothing music or music designed to guide meditation practice to help you settle your mood, meditate, and get healthier.
