Being successful requires certain procedures. Let’s see how many of them you can do!

9 tips for success

1. Adjust your time to be five minutes early

On all your devices — watches, cell phones, computers — adjust the clock to be earlier by 5 minutes. Though the day is 24 hours and the workload is still the same, these 5 minutes can be a big help. Your state of mind will be calmer and more confident as you work, and your performance will improve.

2. Successful people use a to-do list

You needn’t complain to your boss that your workload is too big, or to cram more work into your downtime. Take just 5 minutes of your day, or the day before, to write down a to-do list ordered by priorities of each task. Note the most important tasks; you can keep your workflow smooth and organized.

3. Meditate for 10 minutes in the morning, noon, and night

Giving yourself some quiet time each day to reflect allows you to develop your character bit by bit. Self-reflection and improvement can significantly improve your performance in the workplace.

Ensure that these minutes are used for introspection, reflecting on your actions, and not complaining about work.

4. Bring a book in your bag

Every day you spend a lot of time waiting. Rather than reading about conflicts and politics on your phone, consider taking a book or Kindle. While you wait for the subway and you are not doing anything, use that time to study, recharge, and learn something new.

5. Successful people generally have a good sense of humor

Since there is no escape from difficulties and disappointments in the workplace, why not stay positive by developing a sense of humor? To cope with frustration, try cracking a joke. With a smile, your mood brightens, and you find the strength to keep going.

6. Start with ‘we’

Whether in your thoughts or your communication with others, start your sentences with “you all” and “we.” Also, say “please” and “thank you” more often; you will better understand others, and communication and cooperation will be much easier. The reason is simple: How you treat others is how they will treat you. Empathy and gratitude will bring about a positive cycle in your interpersonal relationships.

7. Nod and smile at colleagues you haven’t met

You’ll always meet a few unfamiliar faces in the office and corridor. They may be a visiting guest, a colleague in another department, or they may even be from upper management.

When you encounter someone you don’t know, do you walk by without reacting, nodding, or smiling at them? In just a few seconds, the other party will not only form an impression of you, but also an impression of the whole department or company. Developing a good habit of smiling can warm others, as well as yourself.

8. Before going to bed, prepare for the next day at the office

Before bed, make sure you’re all set for tomorrow. Prepare your clothes and pack your bag so you can arrive at the office on time with a clean and professional image. Also, keep your bag, desk, drawers, and computer in order. These habits show that you value your job and will help you remain calm and collected. These small acts can lead to greater success.

9. Do more exercise

Nine out of 10 people in the workplace are plagued by wrist, waist, neck, and back problems. But if you develop some good habits, they’ll go a long way to reduce your discomfort, making you more successful in your job.
