With the theme “Let’s Go Bloom (一起出花),” the 2025 Wanjin Azalea Festival offers a vibrant blend of activities, including landscaping showcases, creative floral designs, captivating art performances, and a lively holiday bazaar. This diverse lineup invites visitors not only to admire the stunning beauty of azaleas, but also to immerse themselves in a joyful, interactive atmosphere where nature, art, and entertainment come together in perfect harmony.

The history of azalea cultivation in Wanjin
The story of the Wanjin Azalea is one of dedication and enduring legacy. For over 50 years, farmers in Wanli and Jinshan Districts have nurtured azaleas, transforming the area into the largest azalea seedling production region in Taiwan. Spanning over 50 hectares, this thriving industry produces more than 6 million seedlings annually, supplying over 80 percent of the azalea plants used in landscaping projects across Taiwan.

In 2021, the New Taipei City Agriculture Bureau launched the Wanjin Azalea brand promotion project, aiming to integrate agriculture with art, tourism, and cultural development. This initiative not only enhances the value of the flowers but also encourages young farmers to return to their hometowns and invest in sustainable, creative business opportunities.

Highlights in the Wanli Tourism Park
Upon arrival, visitors will be greeted by a stunning floral art installation on Wanli’s Wan Tan Bridge. Created by Weng Ting-Yang, an acclaimed artist and recipient of the Taipei Film Festival and Golden Bell Award for Art Design, this mesmerizing piece captures the magical encounter between azaleas and kaleidoscopes, using delicate, reflected images of blooming azaleas to spark a sense of wonder and celebrate the infinite beauty of flowers.

At the Wanli Tourism Park, visitors can wander through vibrant azalea corridors. This park, set along the banks of Masu Creek, features carefully designed garden landscapes inspired by Japanese aesthetics. The floral paths are ideal for leisurely strolls, offering stunning photo opportunities framed by the natural beauty of the creek, mountain vistas, and vibrant azalea blossoms.
Masu Sports Park: A sea of flowers
On the upper reaches of Masu Creek, Masu Sports Park boasts a spectacular sea of azalea plants. Visitors can enjoy walking among vibrant waves of pink, red, white, and yellow flowers that showcase the variety of rhododendrons grown by local farmers.

This floral wonderland not only captivates the senses, but also highlights the ongoing collaboration between farmers, artists, and the local government to promote the region’s natural beauty and encourage tourism.
Jinshan Hot Spring Park: A fusion of art and nature
The Jinshan exhibition area, located at Zhongshan Hot Spring Park, is one of the most anticipated highlights of the 2025 Wanjin Azalea Festival. This serene park transforms into an outdoor art space featuring 12 azalea floral art installations. Each creation is designed to seamlessly blend the elegance of azaleas with contemporary artistic vision, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience floral beauty as living artwork.

Among the 12 azalea floral art installations, the entry “At the Door (門前) won first place in the Azalea Landscaping Competition. Surrounded by six varieties of azaleas and antique urns, an old wooden door stands quietly before a small urn of blooms, evoking the feeling of a gateway to treasured memories. As visitors draw near, the gentle fragrance of the flowers blends with the warmth of the aged wood, creating a nostalgic atmosphere that stirs the heart.

The Azalea Art Gallery: Taiwan’s only floral art space
One of the crown jewels of the festival is the Azalea Art Gallery (杜鵑美術館), located within Zhongshan Hot Spring Park. As the only gallery of its kind in Taiwan, it showcases 22 unique varieties of azaleas, including 15 new hybrid rhododendron species and 7 rhododendron species from local farmers’ collections. This gallery not only highlights the beauty of the blooms but also elevates the perception of azaleas from a landscaping plant to a cultural icon.

The bloom together spirit: Revitalizing local economy and tourism
The theme of this year’s festival, “Let’s Go Bloom,” reflects the collaborative effort between local government, farmers, artists, and businesses. The Wanjin Azalea brand promotion plan has successfully transformed the flower from an agricultural product into a symbol of creativity and pride.
The initiative has garnered international recognition, winning five prestigious awards, including the MUSE Awards in 2023, and continues to attract visitors and support the local economy. Local businesses are participating by hosting photography contests, guided tours, and community events that further enhance the festival’s charm.
