This silent love between a man and his wife has sustained their relationship for 14 years without faltering. The castle of love has not aged with time, but has become stronger.
Once, Wu Kundian’s relatives and friends advised him to remarry or hire a Filipino maid. Still, they could never shake Wu’s conviction that he should take care of his wife personally. He always hoped that one day, she would miraculously speak, and he would be the first to hear her.
Fourteen years ago, his wife suffered systemic motor nerve damage after accidentally taking weight-loss drugs, rendering her paralyzed and unable to speak. Wu Kundian, 58 years old, has been taking care of her since then. He gets up in the middle of the night every day to turn her over. Even if he sleeps less than four hours a day, he has no regrets, and he wants to make his wife’s daily life more pleasant.

Hospitals said his wife only had three years to live
At that time, all major hospitals in Kaohsiung announced that Mrs. Wu had only three years to live. This news hit Wu Kundian hard. Wu did not give up and sought help from many famous doctors, but there was still no improvement. Finally, he decided to take care of his wife himself and accompany her for the rest of her life. However, perhaps it was love that moved God, and Mrs. Wu miraculously survived for fourteen years.
Wu Kundian meticulously takes care of his wife. He cooks for her, feeds her three meals a day, washes her, and cleans her up. The two of them share one life. Because she is conscious, Wu is considerate and constantly asks her for her thoughts on everything. Although Mrs. Wu cannot speak, she can convey her meaning through her facial expressions and mouth movements. Wu can understand silent expressions that others cannot understand.
Wu also became an inventor to make his wife’s life more comfortable. Concerned that he would have to leave her for a short while, Wu set an alarm with the sensor of a water pump motor. If Mrs. Wu moved her wrist, the alarm would sound, and Wu would come to check immediately. Wu also purchased equipment and assembled the chairs himself. Worried that she would develop bed sores from sitting for too long, he sewed chair cushions with loofah. Each thoughtful design represents Wu’s endless love for his wife.

Wu Kundian was a remote-controlled airplane flyer before his wife fell ill, and this leisure activity became his only luxury. Wu said that when he saw the remote-controlled airplane take off, he hoped the aircraft could carry his unchanging wish of fourteen years to the sky and let God know that he had only one wish: to pray that his wife would miraculously recover one day.
