Life has become so hectic that most people hardly get enough time to look after themselves, let alone clean the house! However, it becomes necessary to perform an intensive clean-up of the house from time to time.

You have to take time from your schedule to occasionally give all rooms in your house a deep clean. Traditionally, spring cleaning is thoroughly cleaning a house in the springtime. The practice of spring cleaning is especially prevalent in climates with a cold winter. In many cultures, annual cleaning occurs at the end of the year, in spring or winter, depending on the calendar.

The frequency of spring cleaning will depend on your specific situation

When spring cleaning, the extent of deep cleaning will vary on things like your location and lifestyle. If you live in an area with high dust or air pollution levels, dirt will gather fast. So, you will have to perform house clean-ups more frequently. Fur and dust will also accumulate rapidly if you have pets at home.

In spring cleaning, you will have to clean the walls, floor, tiles, lights, appliances, and many more things.

Below are tips that you will find helpful when spring cleaning your house:

  • Gather the required equipment and products — You will have to clean the walls, floor, tiles, lights, appliances, and many more things. So, you will need to get the right cleaning products and accessories in place. These will include a vacuum cleaner, clean, dry clothes, mops, water, disinfecting spray or liquid, dusting cloths, buckets, etc. You also need to wear suitable attire and a mask to ensure the dust does not get into your lungs.
  • Have a plan — Cleaning the house interiors will take a long time and so it is better that you have a plan in place. Ideally, it would be best if you cleaned the floor at last. The dust and dirt from walls, tiles, countertops, and appliances will fall on the floor. So, you should start with the lights, walls, and tiles and follow with countertops, furniture, and appliances. You may also begin cleaning the bathrooms or the kitchen first and then move to the other rooms.
  • Clean with a focus on safety — Your focus should be on safety. For example, ensure the floor is not wet with soapy water when you move along, cleaning the walls or appliances! Also, ensure the appliances like the fridge and microwave are switched off when you wash them. Finally, if you use a ladder or step-stool to reach high places, make sure it’s stable.
  • Keep pets and children away — When you clean the house, ensure pets and children are outside or at school when clean, for example. Cleaning up the interior involves a lot of energy, and you can do without the additional hassles of controlling pets and children.
  • Choose eco-friendly products — It makes sense to use environmentally friendly cleaning solutions. You can pick from a wide range of eco-friendly and biodegradable products or even make your own. These can be used to clean tiles, walls, floors, appliances, etc. Using these cleaning products means that you and your family are not exposed to toxic fumes or vapor.
  • Be extra careful when cleaning specific items — Some wooden furniture may require only light dusting, while others may require the usage of unique cleaning solutions. The same can be said about cleaning leather or fabric upholstery. In addition, you may have to use special solutions for cleaning bathrooms. Your regular detergent or cleaning spray may not be suitable for removing limescale formed on faucets and showerheads.
