A girl named Wang Xiaoyan was a middle school student. Despite her young age, she was good and had a loving heart! Since her parents passed away early, she lived with her grandmother.
What puzzled her was that she would encounter the same beggar every day on her way to school. He looked very shabby and pitiful! So she would give him one yuan daily and sometimes buy steamed buns or dumplings. Over time, the beggar remembered her deeply.
Unexpectedly, this habit lasted for 10 years. She would often save her pocket money to give to him because every time she passed by, she saw that the beggar’s bowl had very little in it, not much money at all!
Good people are rewarded with good fortune
After going through middle school and high school, she stopped studying and chose to work part-time at a nearby company. Suddenly, she fell seriously ill one day, and the beggar never saw her again! However, the beggar did not give up. He inquired everywhere and learned that she was seriously ill and had no money for treatment. Eventually, he found the hospital!
In the hospital, the beggar saw her elderly grandmother and Xiaoyan, who had been so good to him. The grandmother was old and helpless, with tears constantly streaming down her face. The beggar took out a bag and said: “Little girl, thank you for your persistence over the years. I have no children, so you are my goddaughter from now on. Take this money! Besides what you gave me over the years, I saved some money myself!”
Wang Xiaoyan woke up and saw the familiar beggar and heard what he had just said, and she was stunned! A month later, her condition improved, and she thanked the beggar’s uncle in person. From then on, they called each other father and daughter, and the family lived happily together.
Reflection: True feelings exist in the world; they depend on how you treat the people around you. Perhaps an inconspicuous and unrelated person will become your benefactor. So always remember that good people are rewarded with good fortune!
People may bully the kind, but Heaven does not
My cousin’s child was playing around with classmates at school, and during the play, a classmate fell. It wasn’t a big deal then, just a minor scrape. Who knew that a week later, that child suddenly would take a leave of absence from school? The parents came to my cousin’s house, claiming that their child had been injured by my cousin’s son and was now undergoing surgery in Beijing. The surgery cost 3,000 to 4,000 yuan, and the subsequent treatment would cost more than 10,000 yuan. They demanded my cousin pay for the medical expenses.
It was truly a case of trouble coming out of nowhere. In a panic, they hurried to the school to inquire. Many classmates testified that they were chasing and running; nothing unusual was noticed then. That classmate continued to attend school normally afterward. If he had been injured with a fracture at that time, how could he have attended school normally for a week? But the other parents made a big fuss at the school, and the school, fearing responsibility, pushed the problem onto my cousin. The other parents also caused trouble at my cousin’s husband’s workplace, doing excessive things.
Initially, the matter of children playing around was unclear. Unable to bear the trouble, my cousin and her husband took their child to visit the injured classmate in the Beijing hospital. Seeing the child in a cast looking pitiful, my cousin’s heart softened. She thought it was better not to argue and paid some medical expenses. As expected, the matter became even more complicated once they started paying. Ultimately, they spent 8,000 to 9,000 yuan, and the unlucky nephew who caused the trouble was demoted a grade and had to repeat a year.
Perhaps the parents went too far and took ill-gotten gains. The day after my cousin paid the last sum of money, the parents had a motorcycle accident, suffered multiple fractures, and passed away. My cousin, being soft-hearted, couldn’t bear to see the family in such a disaster and gave them another 2,000 yuan.
At the end of the year, my cousin won the lottery, netting 300,000 yuan after taxes. At my cousin’s husband’s workplace, there was one main position and four deputy positions. He was newly transferred there. Due to bad loans, the main position was vacated, and the other three deputies lost their chances of promotion. Because my cousin’s husband was newly transferred and had a clean record, he was directly promoted.
The book Liao-Fan’s Four Lessons says: “When a person is wronged and slandered without fault, their descendants often suddenly prosper.” My cousin’s experience demonstrated the complete process of cause and effect within a few months. Taking ill-gotten gains without virtue leads to disaster; kind hearts and good deeds, though they may face hardships, often lead to future blessings. It depends on whether one can withstand the trials and stand firm in their goodness.
As the saying goes: “People may bully the kind, but Heaven does not. Heaven’s blessings come in unexpected ways.”
