In the face of a global tsunami of aging populations and the onset of dementia at younger ages, the preventative medical wisdom from the Huangdi Neijing (The Yellow Emperor’s Classic of Medicine) — which states that “A doctor of the highest caliber treats an illness before it happens.” — has become an urgent issue for modern society.
To address this challenge, the “Smart Health & Brain Vitality — The 2026 Interdisciplinary Forum on Dementia Prevention and Anti-Aging Medicine” was held on June 26, 2026, at the National Chung Cheng University (CCU) in southern Taiwan’s Chiayi County. Co-hosted by the CCU Small and Medium Enterprise Incubation Center, the Global Health Development Association, and the Northern Medical Center of New York, the forum brought together over 100 experts from industry, government, academia, medicine, and the general public.
The event focused on dementia prevention, brain health promotion, and anti-aging medicine, aiming to build a more comprehensive blueprint for dementia prevention and healthy aging in Taiwan through cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Free consultations by renowned experts safeguarding public health
The forum kicked off in the morning with free health consultation services, which attracted a large crowd. The organizers invited renowned experts from various fields to provide guidance, including Dr. Tsou Kuo-su (pediatric early intervention), Dr. Lee Ying-hui (otolaryngology), Dr. Yang Hui-hsien (family medicine), and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioners Dr. Lan Shih-che and Dr. Chang Chi-ying.

The consultations covered a wide range of health issues, including chronic disease control, sarcopenia, tinnitus, vertigo, TCM conditioning, and child development. By providing precise preliminary screenings and professional health education, the event put into practice the preventive medicine philosophy of “knowing early and cultivating good habits,” thereby giving the public more time and space to reverse health decline and restore vitality.

Leaders gather to illuminate the path of holistic care
The afternoon session featured a powerful lineup of speakers for the dementia prevention lectures. Distinguished guests delivered opening remarks, including Professor Wang Hsiang-chen, Director of the CCU Innovation and Incubation Center; Professor Chen Ruey-Shyang, Vice President of National Chiayi University; Director-General Zhao Wen-hua of the Chiayi County Health Bureau; Director-General Liao Yu-wei of the Chiayi City Public Health Bureau; Dr. Chen Yen-ling, Director of International Cooperation at the Northern Medical Center of New York; and Professor Nieh Sen, Board Chairman of Northern Fei Tian University.

Integrating the practice of “Four-Dimensional Health,” the organizers also announced plans to establish the Northern Academy of Medicine and Health. This initiative aims to create a brand-new ecosystem where business achievements and physical and mental well-being can coexist beautifully.

Law and clinical practice intertwine: Patient rights and corporate crises
The lecture series opened with Professor Amy Huey-Ling Shee from the CCU Department of Law, who introduced the concept of a “Human Rights Clinic for the Elderly with Dementia.” She emphasized that such clinics should center on the lifestyle needs of older adults and be rooted in human care, establishing a holistic care framework that protects “dignity and autonomy.”
Dr. Sung Sheng-feng, Vice President of Chiayi Christian Hospital, shifted the focus to “The Invisible Crisis for Decision-Makers.” He pointed out that Taiwan’s accelerating aging population, combined with the disappearance of the demographic dividend, will not only deeply impact the corporate labor market but also pose severe, systemic challenges to future healthcare infrastructure and the management of degenerative diseases like dementia.

Professor Lin Ming-chieh from the CCU Department of Crime Prevention analyzed sleep and behavioral problems from the perspective of trace elements. He suggested that individuals suffering from anxiety take a Vitamin B complex in the morning to support their nervous system, and calcium, magnesium, and zinc before bed to stabilize emotions and improve sleep quality. He also reminded the audience to space out the intake of medications and health supplements by at least two hours.

Merging traditional medicine and biotech: Botanical drugs bring new hope
In the realm of treatment and wellness, Zhang Ke-xian, Chairman of Taiyi Yangsheng Traditional Medicine, shared his personal testimonial about surviving a life-threatening illness, emphasizing the TCM philosophy of “70 percent lifestyle cultivation, 30 percent medical treatment” to identify the root causes of disease. Dr. Lan Shih-che, a consultant physician at the Northern Medical Center of New York, noted that TCM approaches dementia by nourishing the kidneys, strengthening the brain, and improving head and neck circulation, adding that these treatments are supported by scientific evidence and are as effective as Western medicine.

Dr. Wu Chi-yu, Vice Dean of the Great Health Academy at the Foundation for Medical Science, pointed out that the global dementia population is projected to surge to 139 million by 2050. He emphasized that Taiwan — with its deep roots in agriculture, sophisticated chemical analysis technologies, and strict Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) — is exceptionally well-positioned to seize massive business opportunities in developing multi-target botanical drugs that comply with US FDA regulations.

Music revitalizes brain nerves as cross-disciplinary booths form a health ecosystem
Beyond medical technology, innovative research on lifestyle interventions was shared. Music can activate multiple sectors of the brain; seniors who regularly listen to music can reduce their risk of dementia by 39 percent. This makes music one of the most effective pathways for expanding cognitive reserve and practicing dual-task training. As the event drew to a close, Wu Da-shu, Chairman of the Public Fundraising Committee of the Global Health Development Association, outlined the vision for the future Northern Medical College.

Meanwhile, vibrant exhibition booths were set up outside the lecture hall, featuring Sun Ten Pharmaceutical, TKP Enzyme, Gan Jing World, Taiyi Yangsheng, BNI + Hotautong, Biotechs Biopharmaceutical, Chao Kung International, Professor Lin Ming-chieh’s Office, the CCU Falun Dafa Club, and the Chiayi Senior Citizen University. The forum concluded successfully through sharing practical, daily wellness solutions, leaving all attendees inspired and enriched.
