Doctor Ishihara Yumi was born in Nagasaki, Japan, in 1948. His ancestors were imperial physicians to the respected families of ancient Tanega Island. He is a well-known name in Japan as a naturopathy physician and an expert in health regimens. He has written more than 20 books in his area of expertise.
Many acute conditions and chronic diseases can be prevented through simple exercises. Working on the lower body can strengthen muscles and help to keep you fit. The flamingo stand, recommended by Dr. Yumi, is particularly effective, as standing in this way for 1 minute is equivalent to 50 minutes of walking!
Simple exercise steps
Step 1: Stand straight, look straight ahead, and hang your arms loosely on your sides.
Step 2: Lift your left knee up to a 90-degree angle, and stand still for one minute.
Step 3: Change legs, and repeat step 2.
Breathe normally and remember to keep your back straight for the best results.
These simple exercise moves work on the hips and quadriceps. Bone mass is also strengthened, and balance improves.
