Times Square and the nearby Theater District, located in Midtown Manhattan in the heart of New York City, has an amazing sense of place, and has earned the nickname “Crossroads of the World.” It is here that you will find “Restaurant Row,” which offers up some of the best fare New York City has to offer such as La Rivista & Broadway Joe Steak. Conveniently located, it is an ideal destination for the pre- and post-theater crowd, Broadway and Times Square tourists, and local residents.
Classic Italian and American cuisine is a major draw to Restaurant Row, and if you happen to be near the intersection of West 46th Street and 8th Avenue, you will find a special restaurant that offers up the perfect combination of the two — La Rivista & Broadway Joe Steak. Semi-formal, with low lighting, white table cloths, and waiters adorned in white uniforms, La Rivista & Broadway Joe Steak harkens back to a yesteryear many wish still existed.
Vaibhav Gupta recently stopped by for a meal and commented:
“An old-style family restaurant — friendly owner James, delicious food, beautiful music, and lovely drinks. This place is a classic gem in Times Square, hidden but still charming.”
Kee from New Jersey also commented:
“This is a traditional Italian restaurant in the Theatre District, the food is delicious and the service is warm and friendly and after 8:00, a pianist plays nostalgic songs.”
Owner James Marchignoli took over the business from his father who got his start some 30 years ago by offering up traditional Italian cuisine and other high-quality fare to his loyal customers. James joined his father in the restaurant at a young age and quickly assumed many responsibilities, including dishwasher, waiter, bartender, and chef.
About five years ago, James merged with his neighbor, Broadway Joe Steak House, and added premium steak to the menu, thus setting it apart from other restaurants in the area by offering the best of both Italian and American cuisine. Recalling his decision, he said:
“Long ago, there was no Italian restaurant, only a steakhouse. We merged them together, which makes it unique from other Italian restaurants. We knew we must leave a deep impression on customers to let them know that we are special. Apart from quality, it is important that the food is palatable to customers’ taste.”
If you are in New York City and want to taste traditional classic Italian cuisine and premium American steak, do not miss “Restaurant Row” and La Rivista & Broadway Joe Steak restaurant where you can experience excellent food and a leisurely and elegant atmosphere.
