Are you a female under stress? Do you find yourself working overtime? Not getting enough sleep? Well, ladies, a cup of flower tea may be just what the doctor ordered to help improve your health and wellbeing.
In today’s fast-paced society, women often work long days. Whether it be their jobs, needing to care for their families, or trying to catch up on household chores, they often find themselves under a lot of stress and having to keep late hours.
Fortunately, there’s a fast and fragrant solution to help counteract these symptoms — rose tea. Relaxing with a cup of rose tea can help improve not just your mental state, but it can also help promote blood circulation, detoxify the liver, soothe the skin, beautify the face, remove freckles, and improve sleep, to name just some of the benefits.
Chinese medicine classifies rose as sweet and slightly bitter. It states that rose can regulate qi, balance hormone levels, promote blood circulation, and dissipate blood stasis. It can also eliminate fatigue and anger, relieve depression, and improve skin deterioration caused by endocrine disorders such as acne, freckles, and rough skin, in addition to regulating menstruation and relieving menstrual pain.
5 flower teas to improve your health
1. Hibiscus tea
To brew this lovely and delicious flower tea, first, rinse 4 dried roses and 2 dried hibiscus calyces, and place them in a teapot. Brew the flowers in a pot of boiling water for several minutes, then cover and simmer for approximately 5 minutes. Add rock sugar to taste and enjoy.
Function: Rose can fight free radicals, promote anti-aging, and eliminate fatigue. Hibiscus can clear heat, act as a diuretic, quench thirst, regulate qi, aid in digestion, and help balance blood lipids and blood pressure.
2. Honeysuckle rose tea
Take 1 tsp of honeysuckle, 3 dried roses, and 3/4 sp of Ophiopogon japonicus (a Chinese herb, commonly known as mondo grass in the U.S.). Rinse the ingredients separately, place them in a teacup, and add boiling water. Soak for about 5-10 minutes, then strain and enjoy.
Function of this flower tea: Rose clears the meridians and collaterals, regulates qi, relieves depression, and beautifies the face. Honeysuckle clears summer heat, helps the body excrete toxins, soothes a sore throat, and improves irritability. Ophiopogon japonicus has the effect of nourishing yin and moistening the lungs and also invigorating the stomach and body fluid. It can cure a dry cough, alleviate insomnia, and improve constipation caused by intestinal dryness.
3. Red dates and rose tea
Gather 5 dried roses and 3-5 red dates (found in Asian markets or online), and wash them thoroughly. Remove the core of the dates and place all ingredients in a teacup. Heat water to 176°F (80°C) and pour it into the cup. Allow to steep for 5-10 minutes, and enjoy.
Function of this flower tea: This tea can help regulate low menstrual flow and provide relief for those experiencing painful periods or menstrual cramps. It can also regulate qi and blood, relieve depression, relax the body and mind, and nourish the liver.
4. Lemon rose tea
This flower tea requires 6 dried roses, 1 black tea bag, and 2 slices of fresh lemon. First, add the black tea bag to a pot of boiling water and brew for about 6 minutes. Add the pre-washed roses and stir, continuing to boil over low heat. Once the water level has dropped a little, add the slices of lemon, and enjoy.
Function of this flower tea: This flower tea is rich in vitamin C. It can soothe the skin, eliminate freckles, promote metabolism and weight loss, and eliminate cellulite.
5. Longan rose tea
For this flower tea, combine 2 pieces of dried longan (found in your local Asian market or online), wolfberry (also called goji berry), and 2 dried roses. Put the 2 pieces of longan in water and mix with approximately 1 tsp of wolfberry. Place ingredients in boiling water for 10 minutes, then add the roses. Allow to steep for several minutes and enjoy.
Function of this flower tea: Dried longan is good for energy, but you can’t have too much each time. This tea nourishes the blood, yin, and your skin. With long-term use, its effect is quite remarkable.
